House Movies are a fun way to spend an evening with the family. Whether you want to watch a horror movie or a comedy, there is something for everyone. From the ominous Paranormal Activity to the hilarious The Skeleton Key, you will never be bored watching house movies.
We Are Still Here
We Are Still Here is a multi-year initiative from the Hennepin Theatre Trust and the Native American Community Development Institute. The program will focus on creating and fostering public art for the built environment along Hennepin Avenue. Its aim is to match emerging Native artists with established Native arts mentors.
One of the goals of the program is to bring large-scale, high-profile public artworks to the American Indian Culture Corridor. A centerpiece of the program is an eighteen to twenty-four month collaborative project that will culminate in a grand celebration in the Hennepin Theatre District in 2022.
To achieve this goal, the program is structured around three phases. In the first phase, three emerging artists work with NACDI and a mentor to develop solo and group art projects for the public. They will also gain access to a range of mentoring and technical assistance, and learn how to create and showcase public art through digital media. At the end of this phase, the artists will design a culminating piece of art.
Paranormal Activity
The spooky-home trope has been around for some time. It is still an effective tool for scaring. Even Guillermo Del Toro’s Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark uses this motif.
One of the first haunted house movies was The Haunting, directed by Robert Wise. It was released in 1963. Its main characters were four people investigating a haunted mansion.
Another classic is The Woman in Black. This film is based on the 1983 gothic horror novel by Susan Hill. In 1989 it was turned into a television movie, which starred Daniel Radcliffe and received multiple BAFTA nominations.
Another film that incorporates this theme is the Paranormal Activity series. These films are filmed almost entirely in the house. They use a handheld camera. But the footage is not as clear as it would be with a traditional movie camera.
The Others
The Others is one of the most enjoyable house movies of all time. It incorporates elements of the classic horror film, but also provides a few surprising twists and turns.
Grace (Nicole Kidman) lives in a gothic country house with her two children, Anne (Alakina Mann) and Nicholas (James Bentley). Unfortunately, her children’s health is on the wane. They are very sensitive to the harsh light of day.
One of the first things that happens is that the house starts to turn spooky. Soon, the girls start to disappear. Not to mention, the girls are being possessed by ghosts of previous owners.
The house has more than a few gimmicks, such as a painting of a cat vomiting blood. In addition, there are several other intriguing touches that make this film worth the price of admission.
The Autopsy of Jane Doe
The Autopsy of Jane Doe is a supernatural horror movie that is set in a small town morgue. It is directed by Norwegian filmmaker Andre Ovredal. It features fine acting, great camera work, and an intriguing premise.
The story is about two father and son coroners, who are tasked with the task of autopsying an unknown woman. However, this woman has been plagued with a number of supernatural events, including her own reanimation.
In addition to the obvious reanimation, the film also features some of the more supernatural aspects of witchcraft lore. For instance, the film features a number of supernatural occurrences, such as a storm, jump scares, and a number of apparitions.
The Sentinel
Sentinel is an action thriller movie. It has a running time of 92 minutes. Despite its short duration, it features some truly scary scenes.
The Sentinel is a cult classic. It is based on a novel by Jeffrey Konvitz.
Michael Winner is the director of the movie. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Jeffery Konvitz. Among other actors, Jeff Goldblum, Christopher Walken, and Beverly D’Angelo appear in the film.
The plot of the movie revolves around a Secret Service agent named Michael Douglas. His team has been bedeviled by Martin Donovan, a veteran of Hal Hartley films. They must save the president of the United States from his treacherous enemies.
The Skeleton Key
The Skeleton Key is an American Southern Gothic horror film starring Kate Hudson, Peter Sarsgaard, and John Hurt. It follows a young nurse who takes on the job of caring for a disabled man named Ben.
Caroline (Hudson) has been working for a family in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. She is a hospice nurse who cares for people with terminal illnesses. Her boss hires her to look after Ben, who is a wheelchair-bound mute and supposedly a stroke victim.
When she gets to the house, she discovers a mysterious room with a strange door and an attic full of hoodoo paraphernalia. Violet Devereaux, who is the wife of the mute Ben, gives her a skeleton key.
